Roma have confirmed the end of Claudio Ranieri’s third spell with the club, announcing his exit as principal adviser only months after his return. The move comes against a backdrop of recent tension with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
The club said in a statement that its collaboration with the 74-year-old had ended, and thanked him for his significant contribution during a delicate period. Ranieri returned last season to steady the side, then moved into an advisory role.
The departure comes after poor results, with Roma sixth in Serie A on 58 points. There have also been growing disagreements with Gasperini, appointed last summer. The pair are said to have clashed over sporting strategy and recruitment after a series of public comments highlighted their differences.
Roma’s message set out a clear course, expressing full confidence in the path ahead under Gasperini’s leadership. It stressed that the club comes first and that the organisation is stable, with strong direction and a clear vision.
The announcement arrived before an important league trip to Bologna on Saturday, kick-off 18:00.
