After probing Alejandro Garnacho, Roma are going all-in to try to sign Crysencio Summerville. The Premier League sides haven’t yet started a proper bidding war to poach him from West Ham following the relegation. Therefore, the Giallorossi think they have a realistic chance, Alfredo Pedullà reports.

His representatives recently spent some time in Italy, successfully negotiating with Lazio for Danilo Doekhi. They also met with the other capital club. The summit went well, but there’s some work to be done on his personal terms.

Summerville has a €45M release clause that will expire in a few days, and Roma will try to acquire him for slightly less than that threshold. While that’s possible, they can offer at most €4.5M per year in salary.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the speedster initially requested €6M annually. The Giallorossi are working to close the gap. Aston Villa are tracking him as well. Considering his multi-year spell at Leeds United, he has notched 33 goals and 20 assists in 145 games since he headed to England from Feyenoord. He has six caps with the Netherlands under his belt and has done a lot of damage in the World Cup, putting his name in the stat sheet four times in as many matches.

Purchasing him would be an excellent way to bounce back from missing out on Mason Greenwood and would give Gian Piero Gasperini the pacey attacker he’s been coveting since being hired. On the other hand, it’s tough for Serie A sides to compete with EPL ones on wages. They’ll have to hope no team suddenly comes in with an over-the-top offer in that regard.
