Ryan Reynolds has paid a heartfelt tribute to Paul Mullin after Wrexham confirmed his departure, hailing the striker’s impact on the club and community.
The club announced on Friday that Mullin’s contract had been terminated by mutual consent, drawing a close to a defining spell under owners Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
In an Instagram post, Reynolds praised Mullin’s standards on and off the pitch, his tenacity and knack for decisive late moments, saying he gave hope to a team and a town and that he felt honoured and grateful.
Manager Phil Parkinson wished Mullin well, noting the settlement lets him take time to find the right club. He said the forward’s contribution over the past five years cannot be underestimated and that he will be remembered and revered by supporters.
Mullin scored 110 goals in 172 appearances after joining from Cambridge in 2021, won three consecutive player of the season awards and departs as Wrexham’s ninth-highest goalscorer.
His profile also grew through the award-winning Welcome to Wrexham docuseries. Following his loan move to Wigan last season, Reynolds had said he struggled to imagine seeing Mullin on loan in another kit.
