Following Liverpool’s 4-2 loss to Aston Villa, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has taken to social media to express his discontent with the season and manager Arne Slot.

It has certainly been a season to forget for the reigning champions, which has taken another turn for the worse this weekend. Friday night, the Reds faced out-of-form Aston Villa and were played off the park in what was their 19th loss of the season.

PUBLIC OUTBURST

Liverpool’s struggles on the pitch are clear to see; however, this season, problems off the pitch have been highlighted. After a 3-3 draw with Leeds United back in December, Mohamed Salah took to the press after being left on the bench for the entire match.

The Egyptian King stated that the club had thrown him under the bus and that someone wanted him to “take all the blame.” This public interview sparked fury amongst the fans, creating a divide on whether he was right to make the statement or not.

This was not just a player unhappy about being dropped; this was a warning for Liverpool fans that all is not well behind closed doors. He felt he was being wronged, and it seemed an earlier exit was destined. In a recent interview, the Liverpool forward revealed a word with club legend Steven Gerrard made him stay. Was Salah wrong to have made it public, or was he simply wanting the fans to know the truth?

PLAYERS BACK SALAH POST

Yesterday, Mohamed Salah took to Instagram and X in a shocking but very honest post, which makes digs at manager Arne Slot. Salah, who is set to leave at the end of the season, went all out in a passionate message to the fans.

In the post, the star referred back to previous manager Jurgen Klopp by saying: “I have seen the club go from doubters to believers” and “I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team.”

The sheer scale of the dressing room rift became undeniable as a wave of high-profile names rushed to show their support online. A massive contingent of current Liverpool stars immediately liked Salah’s explosive post, including long-standing pillars Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, alongside former Anfield favorites Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Adrian.

Most damning of all for the manager was the backing from Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Hugo Ekitike, players brought to the club by Slot himself. Seeing his own marquee signings side with Salah proves that the manager has lost control of the locker room.

The winger then criticised Arne Slot directly, claiming that the style of football is the “identity that needs to be recovered” at Liverpool and that that’s what “everyone that joins the club should adapt to.” He also went on to say that qualifying for the Champions League is the “bare minimum” for the club.

Salah’s post went viral immediately, which once again sparked debate amongst fans, most of whom backed what was said. However, the most revealing moment of what is going on at Liverpool was that several Liverpool players had liked the post.

With one game remaining and Champions League qualification still up for grabs, is this the final straw for Arne Slot? Whatever happens in the next week, FSG has a huge dilemma on its hands and has a decision to make going forward.
