Santos are considering taking Vitória to the CNRD to recover about R$ 3.6 million in overdue instalments from last year’s signing of Lucas Braga, according to Globo.com.
Braga’s contract termination with the Bahia club was published in the CBF daily bulletin last Friday. He was set to join Fortaleza on loan but failed medical tests, which detected a heart issue that could prevent him from continuing his career.
The club is contractually protected by the sale agreement and is awaiting two overdue sums. The first fell due on 30 September for the purchase of his rights, the second on 7 January, a bonus tied to Vitória remaining in the top flight after the end of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Together they total €600,000.
Braga was moved on after falling out of favour at Santos. The club want swift payment and, after a series of emails seeking a response, could escalate the matter.
The deal was worth €1.3 million plus bonuses, with the first €300,000 already paid. Further instalments of €300,000 and €400,000 are due on 30 April and 30 September respectively. Vitória are expected to contact Santos only after resolving issues with the player, recognise the debt, are not set to rush to clear it now, and could try to renegotiate sums not yet overdue.
