Santos will keep coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda in charge until Sunday’s derby with Corinthians at Vila Belmiro, 16:00, in the sixth round of the Brasileirão, despite dissatisfaction after the 2-2 draw at Mirassol on Tuesday 10.

According to Diario Do Peixe, pressure around president Marcelo Teixeira is growing for a change, with alternative candidates discussed, chiefly Cuca, while Teixeira and football executive Alexandre Mattos have so far resisted, as members of the Management Committee and Deliberative Council push for his exit.

Teixeira likes Cuca but recognises he could face pressure over a return given a past rape conviction in Switzerland. Sporting factors are also weighed, with Cuca having led Santos to the 2020 Libertadores final, then departing amid turbulence.

The squad rested on Wednesday 11 and will resume on Thursday 12 afternoon. Sessions are set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 16:00 at CT Rei Pelé.

Vojvoda had eased pressure with a win over Vasco, yet the draw left decision-makers unconvinced, and some around the club argue there are viable market options. His side have struggled to string wins together, though Neymar, rested on Tuesday, should play on Sunday, and centre-back Lucas Veríssimo is expected to arrive in Brazil in the coming hours, with no debut date set.

Appointed in August last year, Vojvoda has overseen 32 matches, winning 10, drawing 13 and losing nine. Last year he had 18 games with six wins, eight draws and four defeats, a 48% return, and this year he has four wins, five draws and five defeats from 14, at 40%.
