Another devastating blow for Senegal. Assane Diao will indeed miss AFCON 2025 with Senegal due to a "grade 2 hamstring muscle injury," sustained during Como's defeat to Roma on Monday night (0-1). According to information from wiwsport, the Senegalese striker will be sidelined for six to eight weeks, meaning he will miss the entire tournament, including the final on January 18.

This is a huge disappointment for the player, who opted for Senegal in March 2025 and was hoping to take part in his first major international tournament. His absence adds to that of Ilay Camara, Anderlecht's right-back, who is suffering from the same type of injury.
