Serge Gnabry has confirmed he will miss the 2026 World Cup after injury, ending his summer with Germany for the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The player said in a post on Wednesday 22 April that his World Cup dream is over.

The 30-year-old sustained a partial tear of the adductor muscle in his right thigh during Bayern Munich's final training session before their 4-2 win over VfB Stuttgart.

In his message, he reflected on a challenging few days and referenced Bayern's season, noting the Bundesliga title was secured again at the weekend with more matches still to play.

He will support the national team from home and will now focus on recovery and preparation for pre-season, thanking supporters for their messages.

Gnabry has endured a rough run with Germany, also missing Euro 2024 and the 2018 World Cup with separate injuries.
