Nicolo Cambiaghi, Nikola Moro, Riccardo Orsolini and Jens Odgaard gave Bologna a four-goal victory over Serie A strugglers Pisa, who played with 10 men for over an hour at the Dall’Ara on Sunday afternoon.

Vincenzo Italiano made a handful of changes to his Bologna side, bringing in Nadir Zortea, Remo Freuler, Jens Odgaard and recently called-up Italy international Nicolo Cambiaghi. Alberto Gilardino, meanwhile, made just one change to his Pisa side following their 0-0 draw with Fiorentina last time out in Serie A.

Bologna’s front three of Orsolini, Thijs Dallinga and Cambiaghi combined brilliantly for the opener at the Dall’Ara.

Orsolini pulled out a brilliant spin on the halfway line, carried the ball into the opposition half, fed Dallinga on the wing, and then watched on as Cambiaghi applied the first-time finishing touch in the middle of the area.

Though the opening half hour was relatively evenly contested, the game was turned on its head when Idrissa Toure was sent off for bringing down Dallinga on the edge of the area.

Moro converted the following free-kick for 2-0, before Orsolini prodded home Dallinga’s cross for 3-0 just two minutes later.

The misery continued for Pisa early in the second half. Jens Odgaard lined up a strike from distance, which took a deflection, changing the trajectory of the ball and helping it into the far corner of the net.

The Rossoblu attack did not let up as the game progressed. They had several chances in the second half, despite bringing off all four of their goalscorers midway through. Substitute Jonathan Rowe came close on three occasions.

In the end, Bologna stopped at four, which puts them in seventh place in Serie A heading into the international break. Pisa remain at the foot of the table with two points from six matches in the top flight.
