The 2024/25 Serie A season is shaping up to have one of the wildest finishes in Italian football history as both Napoli and Inter - the two sides battling it out for the Scudetto - slipped up, setting the stage for what’s bound to be a thrilling final day.
Napoli were held to a goalless draw away at relegation scrappers Parma, but they’re still just one win away from lifting their fourth league title.
Antonio Conte’s side stay a point ahead of Inter, who also stumbled, drawing 2-2 at home to Lazio. It was a rollercoaster of a match for Simone Inzaghi’s men, who went ahead twice through Yann Bisseck and Denzel Dumfries, only to be pegged back both times by Pedro Rodríguez.
Inter had golden chances to snatch it at the death, including a disallowed goal in stoppage time, but nothing would fall for them.
Napoli weren’t without their own drama, either. They were denied a potential match-winning penalty in added time after a VAR review, leaving fans and players furious.
So, heading into the final weekend, Napoli are one point ahead of Inter. They’re at home to Cagliari, while Inter are away to Como.
If Napoli beat Cagliari, they’ll lift the trophy. But if they slip up and Inter win, the title will be heading back to the San Siro.
