Neal Maupay did produce on his debut, but no defenders arrived during the winter window.

Ramos, 40, is a free agent after ending his Rayados de Monterrey deal in December. He was said to favour a return to European football, but has yet to find a club.

He is also fronting a North American consortium seeking to buy Sevilla, which is carrying out due diligence and holds exclusive rights to become majority shareholders for the next three months. Ramos is the face of a €400m bid, currently in pole position to take power at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The idea of re-signing Ramos was raised during ownership talks and initially deemed incompatible, but after the latest heavy defeat there is internal discussion that a defensive leader could help. Ramos spent one season back at Sevilla two campaigns ago, joining and leaving on free transfers and starting regularly.
