Shea Charles makes Southampton return amid Leeds United interest | OneFootball

Shea Charles has rejoined Southampton for pre-season while Leeds United maintain interest in signing the 22-year-old Northern Ireland midfielder.

Daily Echo reports that Charles has now linked up with his team-mates after an extended break, following Southampton's return to pre-season last week.

Leeds are hoping to sign him ahead of their second season back in the Premier League and are continuing to wait on a deal. Southampton have rejected approaches so far as they prepare for a second Championship campaign after being expelled from the play-offs following the Spygate saga.

The Championship season is due to begin over the weekend of Saturday, August 15. Southampton are scheduled to start competitive action a week earlier with a first round Carabao Cup tie at Colchester United on Saturday, August eight.

Charles was granted additional time off after Northern Ireland’s two June friendlies against Guinea and France.
