COH Sports are embroiled in a legal dispute with former Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah

Sheffield United are preparing for the new Championship season as they look to bounce back after a tricky 2025/26.

The Blades were hoping to be in the mix for promotion, but ultimately finished 13th in the table, 13 points adrift of the play-offs.

The Yorkshire outfit had reached the play-off final in 2025, so suffered a serious decline to fall into the bottom half of the second division.

Chris Wilder will be keen to turn things around, using the summer to bolster the squad and better prepare for the year ahead.

However, off-field issues have emerged involving the owners COH Sports, a group led by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy.

Former Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah, who sold to COH Sports in December 2024, has issued a winding-up petition to the group amid speculation that he feels he is owed £35 million as part of their takeover agreement.

Sheffield United have posted an image on their social media of Wilder and the team taking part in their pre-season training.

Included among the images is a look at Rosen in conversation with the 58-year-old head coach in a rare sighting of the American.

Rosen is a leading figure at COH Sports, and has been the most outspoken of the members of the group.

Given the speculation over the legal dispute with Prince Abdullah, supporters might be hoping to hear from him to give some insight into what exactly is going on, and how it impacts everything at Bramall Lane.

However, for now, Rosen has only appeared in a few images at the training ground, along with the caption: “Business as usual.”

Sheffield United have completed one signing so far this summer, bringing in Romelle Donovan on loan from Brentford.

How Sheffield United fans feel about Steven Rosen appearance at pre-season

Some Sheffield United fans are positive about the appearance of Rosen at pre-season, claiming that Wilder looks happy, and they trust everything is fine.

However, others are frustrated at the lack of any kind of interview from Rosen, and would like to receive an update from the owners.

This was echoed by a number of supporters, who believe that if Rosen is going to show up at training, then he must be willing to address the fans.

But some fans are confident that his willingness to show up at Shirecliffe then everything must be under control.

Sheffield United begin the new Championship season on 15 August with a home clash against Birmingham City.

Steven Rosen must clarify COH Sports’ legal dispute

If the dispute between COH Sports and Prince Abdullah drags on, then it could have a major impact on Sheffield United as a club.

So it is only fair for the fans to claim that Rosen should be more transparent with them, particularly if he’s going to show up to pre-season training and be pictured alongside Wilder.

The Blades have only made one loan signing so far this summer as well, which won’t help matters after the manner of Sheffield United’s disappointing last 12 months.
