The Owls have been in administration since October following significant financial mismanagement under Dejphon Chansiri.

The Yorkshire outfit have officially been relegated to League One already, but have set a timeframe of 1 May for finalising Arise Capital’s proposal to take over.

The American is leading a group that consists of his son, as well as Tom Costin, and they will already be putting plans in place for when they receive ratification from the EFL.

Henrik Pedersen has overseen a difficult campaign with an inexperienced squad, but he may get the chance for a fresh start under this new ownership.

But work cannot begin on investing in the club and the first team squad until the takeover is finalised.

It has been reported by Football Insider that Sheffield Wednesday are already lining up the appointment of Joe Savage to a role behind the scenes.

It is believed that the former Hearts chief could be brought in for a newly-formed sporting director position.

Savage, if appointed, is set to lead player recruitment under the new structure set up by the Storch ownership.

The 42-year-old spent three years with the Scottish Premiership side, and has been credited with laying the foundations for the team that is currently top of the table.

He has previously worked with Norwich City and Preston North End as a chief scout, meaning he has plenty of experience in a recruitment position ahead of his potential arrival at Hillsborough.

It’s been claimed that David Bruce is set to become the next CEO of the Yorkshire outfit, with plans being put in place ahead of Storch’s takeover.

These moves should raise confidence that a deal will be completed soon, with just two weeks to go before the 1 May timeframe.

Sheffield Wednesday are 24th in the Championship table with just four games remaining, with the campaign set to conclude on 2 May.

If the takeover is completed by 1 May, then the new owners will be in place in time for the team’s clash at home to West Brom on the final day.

The Owls will be hoping to begin their plans for life in League One as quickly as possible, although the club faces a 15 point deduction penalty in the third tier, as well as potential transfer restrictions.

Joe Savage appointment could prove quite impressive

Savage was a key figure behind the scenes at Hearts as they earned promotion to the Premiership, as well as qualified for Europe on three successive occasions.

He’s earned an impressive reputation from a recruitment standpoint, and that will be crucial for Sheffield Wednesday getting back to a competitive level quickly.

These moves being lined up also suggests that the ratification process is far along, and a decision can be expected soon.

Some light at the end of the tunnel for Owls fans will be a huge relief, as it’s been a very difficult period for the club under Chansiri over the last few years.
