The young midfielder endured challenging times under Ruben Amorim, and he even attempted to leave the club in search of playing time, but he’s been omnipresent in the starting lineup since Michael Carrick’s appointment.
Mainoo hasn’t only been a regular starter for the 44-year-old English manager, but has also cemented himself as an absolute protagonist in the team thanks to his key contributions in the middle of the park.

The youngster is exceptional at advancing play. and also showcased his willingness to do the dirty work on some occasions, including the laboured victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Therefore, Man Utd have been keen to secure the player’s services with a long-term deal. Mainoo’s contract renewal has been in the air for quite some time, and it appears that the official announcement will arrive on Wednesday afternoon.
According to several trusted sources, including Carrington insider Sully and The Athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell, the midfielder and his family have arrived at the club’s headquarters to put ink to paper.
The Manchester native is one of the first team’s lowest earners with a weekly salary of £20,000. His new deal will multiply his earnings, as he’ll be expected to collect circa £135 per week. The new contract should be valid until June 2031.
For his part, Sky Sport De journalist Florian Plettenberg reveals that the new contract will not include a release clause.
In the current day and age, footballers often try to include a buyout clause in their contracts, as it allows them to force their way out of the club if a suitor is willing to meet the price tag.
While clubs occasionally succumb to this request, the fee mentioned in the release clause is often exaggerated, so the club can guarantee a significant remuneration should they lose the player.
On the other hand, when the parties agree not to include a release clause, it could stem from a genuine desire to prolong their collaboration for many years to come, and this might be the case for Man Utd and Mainoo.
In this epoch, it’s difficult to imagine a player spending his entire career at one club. But if there’s one Man Utd we can bet on to stick around for potentially another decade, it has to be Kobbie Mainoo.
