A lot of Rangers fans who are willing to give Russell Martin’s Rangers chances and time offer the case of ‘we can’t keep firing managers’.
Ibrox Noise agrees to an extent with this sentiment, look at where Man Utd are having done the same thing.
They too have been in the doldrums since 2013 and Sir Alex’s retirement, and have fired umpteen world class bosses.
It hasn’t really helped.
Rangers are in the same boat.
Making the wrong appointments in the first place.
Who actually thought an Ajax manager was the right fit for Utd? Who really believed a failed Southampton coach was the correct stuff for Ibrox?
Michael Beale? Jose Mourinho?
It’s abundantly clear it’s less that Rangers can’t keep sacking managers, more that we have to stop appointing patently incorrect ones.
The last three appointments have been an abomination, and while Ibrox Noise mistakenly backed both Beale and Baldy initially, we realised quickly we’d been wrong. We never backed Martin and he’s been a lot worse than either.
This is where Rangers are collapsing – appointing wrong boss after wrong boss. THAT is what needs to be rectified, bringing in more tangibly correct managers rather than blatantly wrong bosses.
Basically, vaccinate the virus, stop treating its symptoms, and while we’re not comparing Rangers with Covid, the club is clearly ill.
There’s no point in appointing a guy clearly badly-suited, but Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell did exactly that. Russell Martin’s Rangers chances are low.
Why? You’d have to ask them.
Russell Martin is just yet another abhorrent mistake by the club, and until it puts on its big boy boots and gets sensible, it will just keep making them.
