Steve Cooper has been announced as the new manager of Danish side Brondby IF after signing a three-year deal.

The 45-year-old has been without a job since being sacked by Leicester City in November 2024, having overseen just 15 games.

The former Nottingham Forest manager has reportedly turned down offers from Championship sides to pursue a new challenge in Denmark.

"Steve is a rare combination of youth and experience, vision and personality," said the club's sporting director Benjamin Schmedes about the appointment.

"He is a man who can embrace a club like ours and lift both the individual player and the entire club to a new level.

"We want to accelerate our development so that we can achieve our ambitious sporting goals and, not least, instil a winning culture within the walls of Brøndby Stadium.

"This requires a mentality, leadership and a pair of broad shoulders, which we have no doubt Steve possesses. That is why we are very pleased that he has agreed to take on the challenge."

Cooper's has a tricky first fixture as his side host FC Kobenhavn on Saturday.
