Real Madrid may be dealing with a mixed run of results on the pitch, but behind the scenes, there is a sense of calm, especially regarding Rodrygo. 

According to information emerging from Defensa Central, club president Florentino Perez has personally stepped in to back the Brazilian winger at a time when his form has been under heavy scrutiny.

The spotlight intensified after Real Madrid’s 1-2 defeat to Manchester City, yet the night still delivered a long-awaited breakthrough for Rodrygo. 

His strike against the Premier League champions marked his first goal for the club since March, ending a frustrating drought that stretched across more than 30 matches. 

For a player expected to be one of the team’s attacking pillars, this barren run had become a major talking point in Madrid.

Support from Perez

Perez, however, saw the moment differently. Those close to him have described the president as genuinely pleased after witnessing Rodrygo’s performance and resilience.

He then expressed his confidence in Rodrygo, saying, “This kid is very good… He’s going to prove it, for sure.”

That message, delivered privately but reported publicly, reflects both loyalty and expectation. 

Perez has long admired Rodrygo’s ability and personality, and he remains convinced that the winger can have a decisive role at the Santiago Bernabeu if he remains focused and regains full confidence.

Enough reasons to be concerned

Rodrygo’s dip in form is not a recent concern. He ended last season facing intense pressure, with speculation about a potential departure building around him. 

Several Premier League clubs monitored his situation, and interest remains active today. 

Even so, the summer window closed without any meaningful offer that convinced Real Madrid to sell and just as importantly, Rodrygo himself had no desire to leave.

With his contract running until 2028, the message from the president’s office is now clearer that Rodrygo continues to be part of Real Madrid’s long-term plans.
