Sunderland agreed deal to sign Moussa Diaby before work permit collapse | OneFootball

Sunderland reached an agreement with Al-Ittihad to sign Moussa Diaby (27) during this summer transfer window, according to a report from Foot Mercato. However, a deal to bring the Frenchman back to the Premier League collapsed after it became apparent that he wouldn’t be able to match the work permit requirements.

Diaby is no stranger to the English first division after previously playing for Aston Villa. He left Villa Park to join his current club, Al-Ittihad, for a fee in the region of €60m. The French international made 38 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 6 goals. 

Diaby to leave Al-Ittihad as Sunderland deal collapses?

With a return to England ruled out due to work permit issues, the 27-year-old is considering other avenues to secure a move this summer. Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan are interested in his services, Foot Mercato understands.
