According to A Spor, Sunderland are among several Premier League clubs monitoring Galatasaray defender Roland Sallai, with Liverpool and Brentford also interested.

The Hungary international joined Galatasaray from SC Freiburg in September 2024 and has since been a regular in Istanbul. Primarily a right-back, he has filled in on the left and in advanced wide roles, recording seven goals and seven assists in 64 appearances. The 28-year-old has 64 senior caps and 15 international goals.

It is claimed Sunderland made serious attempts in January but fell short. Liverpool, seeking cover at right-back after injuries to Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong, are also understood to have considered Sallai. The defending Premier League champions also failed with a move for Black Cats loanee Lutsharel Geertruida last month.

In a further update, A Spor suggests Brentford are planning an end-of-season offer. Galatasaray are said to be open to trimming their squad this summer as part of a financial restructuring, though any asking price is unclear, as is whether Sunderland will revive their interest under Director of Football Florent Ghisolfi.

"It is important that we stay motivated in the championship, that is why these three points were important. We won confidently, we have to continue like this. I am 100% focused on Galatasaray, I am very happy at the club." he told BeIN Sport.

On arriving in Istanbul in 2024, he struck a similar tone: "I'm so happy to be here. I believe we can do good things together. We aim to win the league and win the cup in Europe. I know a lot about fans, I can't wait to be with them in our stadium."
