Sunderland have confirmed the permanent departure of forward Nazariy Rusyn to Ukrainian top-flight side Karpaty Lviv.
The club said in a statement that he leaves following a loan at Poland's Arka Gdynia in the second half of last season. No fee was disclosed, and he had one year left on his Sunderland contract after signing in September 2023.
He has agreed a four-year contract. The move will allow him to play regularly and helps Sunderland reduce their wage bill before the new campaign. The SCR impact on the club's accounts will be modest given his contract status.
The 27-year-old scored four league goals in 23 games for Arka Gdynia last term. He made 32 appearances for Sunderland.
Meanwhile, left back Oli Bainbridge has joined National League side Boreham Wood after leaving Sunderland. Boreham Wood went close to promotion to the EFL last season.
