Sunderland have confirmed striker Nazariy Rusyn’s exit, while youngster Oli Bainbridge has joined Boreham Wood.
The club said in a statement that Rusyn has joined Ukrainian top-flight side Karpaty Lviv after a loan at Polish club Arka Gdynia in the second half of last season. He has signed a four-year contract.
No fee was disclosed, which suggests he may have left for a nominal sum or on a free. Rusyn had one year remaining on his Sunderland contract and struggled for regular minutes since arriving in the summer of 2023. The move helps Sunderland trim their wage bill ahead of the new campaign, and the SCR loss to the accounts will be modest.
The 27-year-old scored four league goals in 23 games for Arka Gdynia. He made 32 appearances for Sunderland after joining in September 2023.
Bainbridge has joined National League side Boreham Wood after leaving Sunderland. The talented left back links up with a club that went close to EFL promotion last season.
