Terem Moffi is set to leave Nice for Porto on a paid loan with a purchase option, drawing a line under two fraught months.
According to L'Équipe, the Nigerian striker is due in Portugal on Thursday afternoon after an agreement in principle, with an €8m option to buy and a 10% sell-on clause.
The split followed the 1-3 defeat at Lorient on 30 November, when sections of around 400 supporters targeted him outside Nice’s training centre. Jeremie Boga was caught in the same situation, and both have been on leave since 1 December.
The player had considered legal action, his lawyer raising a labour tribunal route at the league’s legal commission on 15 January. Nice preferred an amicable solution and were unwilling to lose for nothing a record signing under contract until 2027, bought for €25m plus €5m in bonuses three years ago.
Nice had already anticipated his exit by bringing in Elye Wahi on loan from Frankfurt. Porto lead the Portuguese league and face Glasgow Rangers at 21:00 on Thursday for a place in the top eight, which gives direct access to the Europa League last 16.
Moffi will also reunite with Francesco Farioli, his first coach at Nice in 2023-24, whose defensive style offered few chances even as Moffi top-scored with 11 in 30 Ligue 1 games. If a full agreement is finalised in the coming hours, he will take a medical then rejoin full training, a template Nice and Boga may seek to follow.
