Florent Ghisolfi faces a summer call on Simon Adingra, an £18.5 million signing, after Monaco decided against activating their option to buy the winger.

According to Sunderland Echo, Milan Aleksić has joined Partizan Belgrade on a loan and Nazariy Rusyn is close to Karpaty Lviv.

Monaco’s January loan enabled Sunderland to sign Nilson Angulo. The purchase clause would have recouped a significant slice of Sunderland’s outlay, and a renegotiated fee remains possible.

Adingra contributed in Ligue 1 but not consistently, often at wing back, to convince Monaco. That leaves Sunderland with a delicate sporting and financial judgement.

He is with Ivory Coast at the World Cup, having missed a late chance against Germany before Deniz Undav sealed the win. Ivory Coast are relatively well placed to progress.

Sunderland must assess his fit for Régis Le Bris. Early months brought a fine goal in the 1-1 draw with Leeds and regular involvement, though defensive demands often blunted his strengths.

Left wing is crowded. Chemsdine Talbi impressed, Nilson Angulo stood out late on, Romaine Mundle may leave but is expected to be fit, and Enzo Le Fée can also play there.

SCR rules heighten the stakes. The £18.5 million fee is amortised over five years, so a sale around £15 million would mean a cash loss but roughly break-even in SCR terms.

Sunderland must weigh any bids. If losses loom, a loan could rebuild confidence and value, though it carries risk, and the club may deem it early for a definitive call.
