Wigan Athletic boss Shaun Maloney has revealed that he does not judge Nottingham Forest loanee Dale Taylor on the basis of goals and pointed out that the forward helps the team with his link-up play.
The 20-year-old forward came through Nottingham Forest’s academy set-up and in the summer joined Wigan for regular first team football.
On Tuesday, Taylor started his seventh league game of the season and assisted two goals against Northampton Town to help Wigan secure a 2-1 victory.
The Nottingham striker has found the net only twice this season, but Maloney stated that he does not judge Taylor on the basis of how many goals he is contributing to the team.
Maloney pointed out that the Forest loanee is good at linking up the forward department with midfield during the games and stated that Taylor performed brilliantly for his team.
“I do not judge really Dale on his goals”, Maloney told Wigan Athletic’s in-house media.
“The striker that he is, he sort of links midfield and attack.
Taylor has so far amassed a total of 14 appearances for Wigan, and he will be hoping that he can start contributing for his team by scoring goals as well.
