Vincenzo Italiano commented after the 2-1 win in Vigo: “I think today the team performed brilliantly, especially after going behind due to the first mistake. From that moment on, we didn’t give anything away and created a lot of chances. This is one of our best games since I’ve been at Bologna; we played at a really high level. I want to thank the players because they made my birthday genuinely special.”

Federico Bernardeschi, the man behind tonight’s goals, added: “This was a crucial game for us, and we’ve taken an important step up in standings. The coach always tells us to make sacrifices and wants quality in attack. We all played a strong, confident game, a performance that should give us faith. I’m happy with the brace, but winning was what really mattered. Our aim is eighth place, but we have to take it one game at a time. On Sunday, we’ll face Juventus. It’s part of my history, and it will be an emotional experience for me; it’s the first time I’ll face them as an opponent.”

Giovanni Fabbian commented on the victory over Celta Vigo: “We were great in turning things around to get the result, putting on a fantastic team performance. Each of us did what the coach asked, we’re happy, and we know every match has to be approached like this. My first goal of the season? It’s coming, I just try to fight for every ball.”

Santiago Castro shared his thoughts after today’s game: “We played a great match against one of the strongest teams in the group stage. In the second half, we were more effective. I’ve still not scored in the Europa League; the fans and I are waiting for it. I hope it comes soon. Now our focus is on Sunday: we have an important home game up next.”

Nikola Moro, the team’s captain today, commented: “It’s an honour to represent Bologna as a city on a night like this. I’m really happy, and we all feel important in this group. We never drop our intensity; that’s our strength. I want to thank the Rossoblù fans who came out to support us even on a weekday; it was amazing to have them with us today as well. Looking ahead? There are still two matches left, six very important points up for grabs, and we want to win both.”

Tommaso Pobega spoke to Sky: “It was as intense a game as we expected. In the first half, we lacked the final touch in the last pass, but we found it in the second half by picking up the pace and doing what we know best. We were a bit unlucky with my goal. I haven’t seen the replay, so I don’t know exactly how offside it was. What mattered was our attitude, and shortly after that, we scored the penalty and then the goal to take the lead, so we’re happy. We gave the coach this birthday gift, and now he’ll probably ask us to give him another one on Sunday against Juventus. It will be an important match, and we’ll try to prepare for it as best we can, playing to our strengths.”

Charalampos Lykogiannis commented on the victory against Celta Vigo: “I’m always ready when the coach calls on me, even in a position that I don’t usually play. We have to give 100%, and have to be ready when we come on. This is maybe our greatest strength. Now we’re focused on Sunday, when we’ll try to get the three points in front of our fans.”

Juan Miranda’s thoughts after the game: “We played a good game, and I think the team had a great reaction after conceding a goal. We deserved this win. They’re a strong team, and we knew it wouldn’t be easy. This win is also a birthday gift for the coach, he teaches me a lot.”
