Thomas Frank is juggling 10 injuries as he looks to give fringe players an opportunity
After an impressive win on the road against Everton on Sunday, Tottenham look for another one at St James' Park on Wednesday night.
A trip to Newcastle in the fourth road of the Carabao Cup is unlikely to have been high on Thomas Frank's wishlist, but it does offer the chance for Spurs to make a major statement.
Liverpool continue to struggle this season and Manchester City are not entirely convincing. Victory against Newcastle would put Spurs in the quarter-finals and with reason to believe they could go all the way.
Frank is likely to make changes to his starting lineup after a busy run of fixtures and with Chelsea visiting north London in the Premier League this weekend.
Should that be the case, some of Spurs' fringe players need to make an impact.

Antonin Kinsky gets a rare chace

There were calls from some Spurs fans earlier this season for Antonin Kinsky to come into the side and replace Guglielmo Vicario, who had a couple of shaky moments.
Those have very much disappeared over the past week. Vicario made eight saves in a stunning performance against Monaco in the Champions League and backed it up with another superb showing in the win over Everton.
Kinsky started in the previous round against Doncaster and is likely to make his second appearance of the season here.
It is a chance he must take. Defeat against Newcastle and there is every chance that Kinsky doesn't play again for a couple of months at the very least.
Newcastle will test Kinsky aerially and in a hostile environment it will be a real test for a goalkeeper who has played very little football in recent months. This is an opportunity to provide a reminder of what he offers.

Pape Sarr has recently lost his starting sport

It is almost exactly a month since Pape Matar Sarr last started a match for Spurs and more than six weeks since he did so in the Premier League.
He has been limited to cameos off the bench and that has been a fairly dramatic turnaround, having started the first six matches of the season and been in brilliant form.
Frank has insisted Sarr is not carrying injury when explaining Sarr's lack of involvement and so it is up to the midfielder to try and barge his way back into the starting lineup.
There were better signs in a bright cameo against Everton, when Sarr brought real energy and put the match to bed with a calm headed finish for his second goal of the season.
Reports have emerged that Archie Gray has picked up an injury issue in training and if that is true, Sarr can prove he should be first in line for matches where Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha do not both start.

Brennan Johnson is due for a run of games

Brennan Johnson was handed a start on his favoured right week against Everton and he will be hoping for another one at St James' Park.
The season has been a largely frustrating one for the Welshman, who scored against Burnley and Manchester City to start the campaign but then dropped out of the side.
He is in a difficult position, with Mohammed Kudus the clear first-choice on the right wing and Frank shuffling through his options on the left.
Johnson's only goal in the last two months came against Doncaster and he has not particularly caught the eye when coming off the bench.
While the winger is one of Spurs' most clinical finishers in front of goal and has a knack for being in the right place at the right time, he can fade in and out of games too much.
He was more positive at times against Everton in taking on his man and driving forward and should he start again against Newcastle, much more of that is needed.
