Hebburn Town are interested in three Sunderland youngsters following their against-the-odds title win. Sunderland Echo understands the National League North newcomers are assessing moves for Cameron, Isaac Allan and Waters.
The Hornets topped the Northern Premier League Premier Division with 79 points from 40 matches, winning 23, drawing 10 and losing seven. They finished two clear of Hednesford Town and seven ahead of FC United of Manchester.
Cameron spent the first part of the season on loan at Hebburn before heading to Boston United, with Allan replacing him midway through the campaign. Waters enjoyed a productive spell, maintaining a strong goals-to-minutes ratio and scoring again in the final game.
Hebburn are also keen on Allan, though his situation differs. The goalkeeper is under contract at Sunderland next season, so any return would have to be a loan. Given both Cameron and Allan are goalkeepers, the club are likely to pursue only one, a call that will form part of wider summer planning for the step up.
After the 2-1 win at Bamber Bridge last month, which left them three points from clinching the title, manager Daniel Moore praised Allan’s crucial saves and said the substitutes changed the game. He explained they pushed two up front with Gaz to increase pressure and that Jake put in a strong shift.
Hebburn are expected to work with a modest budget next season and are thought to be keen to build a young, enthusiastic squad for National League North. Cameron, Allan and Waters match that profile.
