During the previous summer transfer window, PSG was linked to several players, including Real Madrid star Rodrygo. Nonetheless, these rumors didn’t materialize into an actual transfer, as the Brazilian would remain with the Spanish club.

However, the information about PSG’s interest in Rodrygo was conflicting.  Foot Mercato’s Josué Cassé noted that Rodrygo wasn’t among the club’s targets. At the same time, Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg suggested both PSG and Liverpool were monitoring him closely, with Tottenham Hotspur no longer in the picture.

A move to Paris could still be on the cards later in the season, depending on how Rodrygo’s role at Real Madrid evolves. Meanwhile, although a few Premier League clubs have shown only modest interest, one side appears particularly keen on securing him.

PSG aren’t the only club presenting conflicting information over Rodrygo. As mentioned, over the summer, Plettenberg stated that Tottenham aren’t in the picture. However, with the winter transfer window approaching, there might be a U-turn on their part.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Tottenham could line up a loan agreement for Rodrygo once the window opens.

The 24-year-old has started only three of his 13 matches for Real Madrid this season and has yet to score, adding just two assists so far.

“Well, I think to do it permanently would be almost impossible for all but a couple of sides,” Borson said.

“I think the loan situation is different, of course, because there’s a sliding scale as to what people pay. Do they pay a loan fee? Do they pay all his wages? Do they pay a loan fee plus his wages? That depends on how much Real Madrid want him out the door, want to see him in a different league and if other people want to take that gamble.

“I think it looks like he’s the sort of player that could interest Spurs on a loan, especially if the purse strings are being loosened by the Lewis family and they want a bit of magic dust into the side. He could be a good player for that.”
