Tottenham Hotspur and INEOS Automotive have reached an out-of-court settlement, bringing an end to a protracted legal dispute between the Premier League club and the British manufacturing giant owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the co-owner of Manchester United, Sky Sports has reported.

The lawsuit, filed by Spurs in June 2025, centred on claims that INEOS had breached a five-year sponsorship agreement by failing to make scheduled payments. Tottenham were seeking £11m in damages, including £5.5m in missed payments from the previous year, £5.3m for the 2026/27 season, and an additional £300,000 in interest.

According to court documents, Spurs alleged INEOS failed to pay nearly £500,000 in August 2024 and subsequently missed a £5.1m instalment for the current campaign, prompting the club to terminate the agreement in March 2025.

INEOS, however, countered that the club had breached exclusivity terms by engaging in negotiations with Audi, forcing a “second variation” of the sponsorship deal in August 2023. The revised agreement reportedly gave INEOS the right to terminate the contract after three years, a clause the company exercised in December 2024. INEOS also sought £1.07m in damages, arguing Spurs’ original claim was invalid under the revised terms.

While both parties confirmed that a settlement had been reached, neither provided further comment on the financial details.
