Thomas Frank has delivered an update on Lucas Bergvall ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League match against Sunderland.
Bergvall missed Spurs’ goalless draw with Brentford on New Year’s Day after sustaining a groin injury in the win over Crystal Palace last weekend.
Frank said the midfielder would be assessed on Monday ahead of Tottenham’s trip to the Gtech Community Stadium, but ultimately opted against risking the Sweden international in the London derby.
Bergvall remains a doubt for Sunday’s game at home to Sunderland, though the Spurs boss is hopeful the 19-year-old will be available for selection.
Speaking on Friday, Frank said: "Lucas Bergvall is a doubt. We hope he'll be ready.”
Frank also refused to put a timeline regarding a return to action for Dominic Solanke.
Solanke has been out since August with a recurring ankle injury, but was pictured in training this week and Frank admitted there was a possibility the striker could be available for selection in January.

However, the Spurs boss has issued a new update on Solanke, stating he cannot reveal an exact date for when the forward will be available for selection.
"The thing I need to know about, of course, is when he's out there on the pitch,” Frank added. “Then that's positive, of course.
“But to say mid-Jan or end of Jan or 25th of Jan, I will not do that.
“I will very much look forward to naming the dates when he's involved in the squad.”
