Sunderland have been linked with Schalke midfielder Soufiane El-Faouzi at around £10.5m, while Tottenham are said to be weighing a £50m move for goalkeeper Robin Roefs.
Sky Germany reports Sunderland are among several suitors for the 23-year-old, with Brentford, Bologna and Celtic also credited, and Rennes mentioned but not viewed as his next stop.
Schalke are said to want to keep the midfielder and no concrete talks are under way. El-Faouzi is described as content in Gelsenkirchen, with his focus on the promotion push.
Meanwhile, Football Insider reports Tottenham would consider a move for Roefs should they remain in the Premier League. The shortlist is also said to include Manchester City's James Trafford and Brighton's Bart Verbruggen.
Sunderland are expected to resist any sale after Roefs' outstanding debut season in England. The outlet has previously said offers in excess of £50m would be required, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City credited with interest.
