Tranmere Rovers have appointed Pete Wild as manager until the end of the current campaign.

The club dismissed Andy Crosby last week after suffering 11 defeats in 12 games that leaves Rovers seven points off the drop zone in League Two.

Now the club have elected to appoint Wild as the new manager who will begin his reign by facing former club Fleetwood Town this weekend.

"I’m delighted to be here," the 41-year-old said about his appointment. "The opportunity to manage a massive club was too good to turn down.    "We’re in a tough predicament at the moment but I believe we can make progress and push forwards with the squad we have at the Club."

While Rovers have a safety net above the drop zone they have won just two of 12 games in 2026 with another 10 still to be played.
