FC Bayern will face HSV this Saturday evening, but preparations for the traditional clash have been anything but smooth. Vincent Kompany and his team had to deal with unplanned obstacles on their journey
The plan was to depart from Oberpfaffenhofen Airport on Friday at around 5 p.m. with two charter planes. However, as reported by Bild, dense fog on the runway put paid to these plans. After an initial delay, the flight was eventually cancelled completely – a last-minute reorganization was necessary
The team was split into two alternative routes. While one part of the team was taken to the airport on the outskirts of Augsburg, the other group travelled to the Ingolstadt/Manching air base. According to the report, the Augsburg delegation was even able to resort to an unusual means: they took over the FC St. Pauli plane that had previously landed there. FC Bayern finally arrived in Hamburg at around 8:30 p.m., and about half an hour later at the team hotel. This means that the north-south clash can go ahead in any case, but for the Munich team it will involve some travel hardship

The late arrival is not ideal for the immediate match preparation. Kompany has to prepare his team for the floodlit game under difficult conditions. Not everything went smoothly recently, in particular the game in Augsburg ended with the first league defeat of the season – now they want to get back on track at the Volksparkstadion
Even if the journey to the stadium was unusual, the objective for the evening remains the same. Bayern want to send out a clear signal at HSV and present themselves in their usual sporting manner. The external circumstances are likely to be a side note at most. With an eight-point lead over their closest rivals Borussia Dortmund, the starting position at the top of the table remains comfortable.
