Mohamed Salah is smiling again. After a rough patch at Liverpool and recent tensions with Arne Slot and the club's management, the Egyptian forward seems to have rediscovered his joy.

Fresh from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he finished fourth with the Pharaohs, the 33-year-old winger played a key role in the Reds' emphatic 6-0 victory over Qarabag on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

The Baysoun native struck Liverpool's third goal with a free-kick in the 50th minute. It was his first goal since November 1 against Aston Villa (2-0) in the Premier League.

This was also just his second Champions League goal of the season, following his finish against Atlético Madrid on September 17, 2025, on matchday one.

Salah's goal against the Kazakh side was his 49th in the Champions League, allowing him to surpass both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Andriy Shevchenko, who each have 48 goals.
