Champions League: Amine Gouiri reacts after OM's exit

UEFA Champions League / Olympique de Marseille's elimination: Amine Gouiri breaks his silence
Olympique de Marseille’s European night turned into a nightmare. Soundly beaten by Club Brugge (0-3) on the final matchday, the Marseille side saw their fate sealed by a late Benfica goal elsewhere, pushing them down to 25th place and out of the playoffs.
Outplayed and punished three times, OM never managed to find the spark to turn things around. The brutal elimination sums up a lackluster evening, where a lack of control proved costly despite a favorable starting position.
Speaking to Canal+, Amine Gouiri gave a clear-eyed assessment:
"We weren’t following the (Benfica) match at first because we missed our own game, we didn’t want to rely on other teams’ results. We conceded three goals and in the end, that cost us qualification. The scenario is cruel because we let in three. We had to win or at least get a point. We’re very disappointed. With the game we played, we don’t deserve anything, that’s just how it is. Now we have the league and the Coupe de France left. We’ll have to recover quickly and focus on the league."
