Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has praised his side’s resilience and rapid turnaround after a difficult start to the campaign, describing the last month as “very good” following Sunday’s 2–1 win over Burnley at Villa Park.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Emery reflected on his team’s transformation from a winless opening month to four consecutive victories across all competitions. “After our start, we are being so demanding every day, in training sessions, building the team,” he said. “After our first month, this month has been very good because we drew three matches and then we won four matches.”
Emery emphasised the importance of re-establishing Villa Park as a “fortress,” a trait central to their success last season. “We are finishing before the break with a good balance, getting confidence and feeling more comfortable than we were,” he added. Aston Villa earned their first win of the season at home against Fulham, before following it up with another 1-0 home victory
However, the afternoon was marred by concern for Emi Buendia, who sustained a concussion late in the game. “I saw him and he’s recovering,” Emery confirmed. “Hopefully it’s nothing more serious.”
After a turbulent start, Villa seemed to have regained some of their past-season form and will hope to continue their run when they face Tottenham Hotspur away from home after the international break.
