The Brazilian Football Confederation released the VAR audio that led to Corinthians midfielder Allan being sent off in the 3-1 defeat at Fluminense, with referee Davi de Oliveira Lacerda judging his act to be an obscene and disrespectful gesture.

The incident occurred six minutes into the second half after a clash with Lucho Acosta. Lacerda booked both players, then Fluminense’s players complained that Allan had grabbed his genitals. VAR official Rodrigo D'Alonso Ferreira initiated a review.

After a little over a minute the VAR identified the act and sent the referee to the monitor. Within seconds Lacerda showed a red card. Law 12 states that offensive, insulting or abusive language or actions are punishable by dismissal.

In his report the referee wrote that Allan provoked Fluminense players and staff with an obscene gesture, holding his genitals, and that he left the pitch without incident after the dismissal.

Allan will serve an automatic suspension against Internacional on Sunday at 19:30 at Neo Química Arena in the 10th round of the Brasileirão. He may also be reported to the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva. Left-back Matheus Bidu is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards.
