Veiga was announced by América of Mexico on Tuesday, joining on loan, then bid a tearful farewell to Palmeiras in a video message. Palmeiras followed with a farewell post on their social channels.

The player said in a post that he leaves with a heavy heart but gratitude, reflecting on life’s seasons and his roots in green and white.

He spoke of childhood weekends at matches with his father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friends, and of having lived Palmeiras completely. He added that one person in particular is especially happy, linking it to fulfilling his grandfather’s dream during his presentation in Mexico.

Veiga will remain with the Mexican side until the end of this season. Before the loan, he extended his Palmeiras contract to the end of 2028. There is no fee for the loan, though an option to buy could still generate income for Palmeiras.

Injury issues affected him last season, when he played 53 games, scored seven goals and provided 11 assists. At Palmeiras since 2017, he became a leading figure, totalling 109 goals and 11 titles.
