WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Pride this evening.
The 35-year-old forward was under contract with London City Lionesses until this summer but Jakobsson has come to a mutual agreement with the club to terminate her deal ahead of schedule.
London City Lionesses signed Jakobsson in September 2024. The player was one of the club’s first major signings of the Michele Kang era. Jakobsson made a significant contribution to London City Lionesses’ Barclays WSL2 title-winning campaign in 2024/2025, chipping in with eight goal involvements.
Given the increased competition for places in the London City Lionesses side this season, Jakobsson’s minutes have been restricted. The Swede has played just 25 minutes of Barclays Women’s Super League football, although she has had greater involvement in the club’s Subway Women’s League Cup fixtures. With Jakobsson in need of more regular football, an agreement has been struck for her time with London City Lionesses to come to an end.
Jakobsson leaves London City Lionesses after playing her part in a piece of the club’s history. The player’s next career move is not yet known, although it’d be no surprise to see her move closer to home.
