El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that Villarreal have confirmed Jean Ives Valou will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Getafe, with no purchase option, and will return when it ends.
The move was close in the winter window, but Getafe cooled their interest at the time. Valou joined in 2023 from Malian academy Étoiles du Mandé and has emerged as one of Villarreal’s most promising prospects.
After an excellent year with the B team, both clubs are open to the 20-year-old making his Primera División debut. He has yet to feature in the league for the first team, though he did play in last season’s Copa del Rey against UD Poblense.
Villarreal extended his contract by two years in January, tying the Ivorian centre-back to the club until 2030. He made 28 appearances and scored three goals for the B team last season.
Getafe will play in the Conference League, which could offer Valou opportunities. Ramon Terrats is very close to leaving Villarreal for Getafe after returning from a loan at Espanyol, who did not take up their option to buy. He impressed for José Bordalás in the second half of 2024/25 with 15 games and four goals, but did not convince Marcelino García Toral to stay.
