Villarreal Women bring in Simona Rebekka Meijer to bolster left flank | OneFootball

Villarreal Women have strengthened their left side with the arrival of Simona Rebekka Meijer.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the 20-year-old joins from Israeli top-flight club Maccabi Hadera. She arrives to add stability for Jordi Ferriols’s team as they enter the final stretch, defending their place to contest the promotion phase to Primera División.

Meijer previously featured for a Villarreal-affiliated club through the Villarreal Academy project. The Netherlands-born player can operate at left-back or on the left wing and is regarded as having good vision and a strong cross.

Before moving to Maccabi Hadera, she played for ŽFK Cool and ŽFK Istatov in North Macedonia, and for Keflavík ÍF in Iceland.

If Ferriols deems it appropriate, she could make her debut against Barcelona B on Sunday at 11.00.
