Vinícius Souza, a 2019 Libertadores winner with Flamengo, has discussed a possible return to the club, although Wolfsburg have made clear they do not want to negotiate.
"I am coming up to six years in Europe. It had never crossed my mind, but after talking with my wife at home, we considered going back for a breather, but I leave it in God's hands," he said, speaking to Canal Goat.
"Wolfsburg made it clear they do not want to negotiate. There were plenty of proposals. I was very surprised, I thank everyone, but it is part of football," Vinícius added.
The midfielder is newly arrived at the German club. A Ninho do Urubu academy graduate, he has 16 appearances this season and is yet to secure a starting role. He previously played for Sheffield United.
Now 26, he made his senior Flamengo debut in 2019. Despite only four outings under Jorge Jesus, he is considered a Brasileirão and Libertadores champion as he was registered in both competitions.
Flamengo, well stocked in midfield, face Lanús in Argentina at 21:30 Brasília time on Thursday 19.
