Real Madrid's new defensive signing Dean Huijsen received a straight red card on Saturday for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity against Real Sociedad. But Los Blancos and Xabi Alonso were not impressed.
A long ball caught the former Bournemouth man behind a surging Mikel Oyarzabal, and the Madrid man grabbed his shoulder and fouled him.
The referee went straight to his pocket for a red card as Huijsen appeared to be the last man, but Eder Militão was also moving forward with him. This led to multiple protests from players and Alonso, unimpressed, on the sidelines.
Despite being a man down, Real Madrid later doubled their lead to 2-0 after goals from Kylian Mbappé and Arda Güler.
Unfortunately for Huijsen, it was not his first sending-off for Real Madrid, following his red card against Borussia Dortmund in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Was this the right call?
