Good start for Thompson in London

Since joining Chelsea in summer for a club-record fee, Alyssa Thompson has enjoyed a good start to life in the WSL.

The Blues winger failed to score in her first month at the club but has found form of late.

Thompson netted her first goal and picked up an assist in the Champions League against Paris FC.

It was her first league goal that got everyone talking though, as the USWNT star scored a beautiful goal from the edge of the box in an important game against Arsenal.

Chelsea dropped points to the Gunners despite Thompson’s goal. The club-record signing scored again in her next WSL game against Liverpool but once again the champions dropped points in another disappointing result.

Thompson is going to be ket to Chelsea if they are to get back on track this season and with back to back league games with a goal, she is proving her worth to Sonia Bompastor.

What next for Alyssa Thompson?

Thompson is now on international break with USWNT. The forward is in line to start both friendlies for her country to end the year in a double header against Italy this weekend.

When she returns from the WSL hiatus, things will get serious for Thompson and Chelsea.

The Blues slipped up in back to back games in the league and now find themselves three points behind Manchester City in the table.

Not being top is unfamiliar territory for the six-time reigning WSL champions. Chelsea face Everton and Brighton in the league when they return from internationals and although both teams are lower down the table, they are now must-wins for the Blues.
