FC Bayern continue to go from victory to victory in the Champions League – and now face arguably the biggest touchstone of the season so far. After three clear victories in the league phase, Vincent Kompany’s team now face reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain. But superstar Harry Kane makes it clear ahead of the summit clash at Princes Park: fear is not an issue for Bayern.
With nine points from three games and an impressive goal difference of 12:2, the German record champions have got off to a perfect start in the top flight. On Wednesday evening, Munich outclassed Club Brugge 4:0, but missed out on an even clearer demonstration of power due to numerous missed chances.
„We should have scored more goals,“ analysed coach Vincent Kompany after the game. Nevertheless, the result is good: three games, three wins – and plenty of confidence ahead of the next big clash.

On 4 November, the big showdown will take place in the Parc des Princes in Paris. Reigning Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain will host Munich in a clash that promises to be explosive in both sporting and emotional terms.
The French side have been in top form so far: after a 4:0 opening win against Atalanta Bergamo and a 2:1 victory at FC Barcelona, PSG put down a big marker on Tuesday with a 7:2 thumping of Bayer Leverkusen. As a result, Luis Enrique’s team took over the lead in the CL table for the time being – just one goal ahead of Bayern.
Nevertheless, Bayern striker Harry Kane is calm and determined ahead of the clash in Paris. He told kicker: „It’s a difficult game. We played against them last year and won. They beat us in the Club World Cup. They are the defending champions, so we know it will be a tough game.“
But Kane also emphasised the new strength of the record champions: „The way we’re playing at the moment, we don’t fear anyone. We respect the opposition, but when the game comes, we’ll approach it with the same mentality and intensity as all the other games this year.“
Under Vincent Kompany, FC Bayern currently seem to be unleashed. Twelve competitive wins in twelve games, a clear game plan, variable attacking patterns and a strong defence. What is particularly striking is that the team is focussed, disciplined and shows the stability that was often lacking last season.
Bayern’s self-confidence has grown noticeably – also because many key players such as Kane are in top form. Munich will therefore be travelling to the French capital at the beginning of November with a broad chest.
A win at the Parc des Princes would not only return them to the top of the table, but would also send a strong signal to the competition: FC Bayern is once again a top favourite for the title.
