If there is anyone who knows what it is like to experience a Clásico de México, it is Carolina Jaramillo, who a few weeks ago celebrated the fifth anniversary of her arrival at Chivas Femenil and who, since then, has become one of the Rojiblancas' top players with the most appearances against their archrivals, with 19 games played.
"Yes, it feels different, that's how I experience it. I want to win, especially these kinds of games. I try to focus twice as hard as in any other game, to be in better shape physically and mentally." That is the mentality of a player who has scored four goals in Mexican soccer's biggest rivalry.
Although the 2025 Apertura has not been what Chivas Femenil and the Rojiblanca Nation would have liked in terms of numbers, one thing that has become clear is that Antonio Contreras' team is resilient and does not give up until the final whistle. 'Caro' is more than qualified to back this up, having contributed to forging that team spirit in her almost 200 games with Guadalajara.
"We know it's a game in a different league. They may be higher in the table, but in these games, position doesn't matter; we want to win. Classics are played to the death; we have to be focused from the opening whistle. If we start well and are connected, it will be a very intense and beautiful game."
Of course, Guadalajara's focus is on winning this Sunday at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes, but also on fine-tuning the details necessary to make it happen with the team's performance. With her five goal contributions so far in AP25, 'Caro' acknowledged the most important points to address against the Águilas, along with a message for the Chiva Nation.
"The key will be to stay focused from the first minute. Mistakes are costly, and if they know how to take advantage of them, it will be difficult to turn things around. If we go out focused, this team can do it. I want to thank the fans because, even though it hasn't been the best tournament in terms of numbers, they continue to support us."
