Brazil have cut former Flamengo right-back Wesley from their World Cup squad after he suffered a muscle injury. According to Coluna Do Fla, Atalanta midfielder Ederson will take his place.

Ederson is due to report to the squad on Monday.

Wesley underwent tests on Sunday, which confirmed a grade three injury to his left thigh. He will need more than 40 days of recovery.

On Saturday night, the mood in Brazil's camp was sombre as several players tried to console Wesley. He was in significant pain and had difficulty walking.

Brazil face Morocco on Saturday 13 in the United States in their World Cup group opener. Kick-off is at 19:00 Brasília time.
