West Brom and their Championship rivals will vote on Friday on sweeping profit and sustainability changes, days after Albion chose not to appeal a two-point deduction.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 24 clubs are considering aligning with the Premier League from next season by replacing current limits with a squad cost ratio. Player spending would be capped at 85 per cent of football revenue, and around £10m in annual equity could count towards revenue to increase spending capacity.

At least 16 of the 24 clubs must back the proposal for it to pass. Sides have already trialled the squad cost ratio in shadow form to prepare for a potential switch.

The EFL currently caps losses at £39m across a three-year period. The suggested framework is intended to give clubs more room to invest as they chase promotion.

This season Albion and Leicester City were docked points for PSR breaches. Albion felt the sanction was unfair, but the matter ended on Wednesday when the club opted against an appeal.

Separately, League One clubs are voting on aligning with League Two by trimming permitted spending from 60 per cent of turnover to 50. Some owners favour a salary cap, although that measure is not on the ballot.
