West Bromwich Albion are poised to support a change to Championship financial controls at a divisional vote on Friday. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club favour replacing profit and sustainability regulations with a squad cost ratio system.
The club are understood to favour SCR, which would align the Championship with Premier League rules. Albion have long advocated the switch and have backed it since Shilen Patel's Bilkul Football bought the club from Guochuan Lai more than two years ago.
SCR would cap player costs at 85 per cent of football revenue and allow an annual £10million capital injection to bolster spending. Second-tier clubs are generally seeking greater investment freedom in pursuit of promotion.
Any change requires 16 of the 24 clubs to approve. PSR has been in place since 2017/18.
Albion fell foul of PSR's £39m three-year loss limit last month and were docked two points after a hearing. They maintain their innocence but, having received written reasons last week, opted against an appeal after securing safety.
Premier League clubs voted in November to replace PSR, under which they were permitted £105m losses over three years, with SCR.
Albion's financial position under PSR was forecast to ease from this summer and offer more room to manoeuvre. SCR would give owners scope to speculate further, with greater emphasis on revenue.
